Fake Bricks is a term often used by many people to describe thin brick veneer which is a manufactured product designed to simulate the appearance of real brick. The following is a brief history of how fake brick products came into being. Arto began making a lightweight, clay think brick veneer in 1966 which was both beautiful and easy to install. Arto began to employ concrete as an energy efficient alternative medium in his manufacturing process in response to the energy crisis in the early 1970’s. The resulting product was no longer limited by the more fragile properties of clay and was able to be produced in a wide variety of warm, novel colors and textures which could be used in a wide range of residential, commercial and high-traffic applications including retail, hospitality and restaurants.
